Tax Cut For Flights From Belfast

Great news for Belfast airport today as the Chancellor George Osborne announces a big cut in Air Passenger Duty (APD). The cut applies on direct long-haul flights from Northern Ireland.

This is the first sign that the Chancellor is recognising that APD tax is too high. At this stage it only applies to the direct long-haul flights from Northern Ireland, which actually in reality means just one flight, the Continentel Flight CO95 from Belfast International to New York / Newark.

The APD will be cut to the same as that of a short-haul flight from 1st November, reducing the tax on economy fares to the US from £60 to £12 and in business class from £120 to £24.

The logic is that you only need to cross the border and fly from Dublin where the tax was just 3 euros.

Lets hope the Chancellor may have a change of heart on taxes on flights from other airports, making cheap flights for everyone.

You can book flights to New York online at www.notjusttravel.co.uk or by phone on 0800 530 0621.
