This is a small old-fashioned cultural resort based around the ancient island fortress of Nessebar. The old town is very picturesque, full of attractive traditional style houses, ancient Orthodox Churches, and various ruins. It would take many hours to explore all of the town.
There are numerous small shops, ranging from the typical tourist fare to interesting antique shops. The restaurants are mostly small and local, and of a good standard.
The hotels for Nessebar are all on the mainland, requiring a reasonable walk, or short taxi drive into the old town.
Overall impression is a resort for those interested in culture and history - or a great day out from Sunny Beach.
