Short Breaks to Sharm El Sheikh

I'm recently back for a short 3 night (4 day) break in Sharm El Sheikh, somewhere I hadn't previously put on my list of places to go for a short break.

WOW, what a fantastic place to go. As short breaks go, it was one of the best. I went out on Saturday 14th November and flew with Kiss Flights (bookable through www.notjusttravel.co.uk ). If you don't know, Kiss Flights are a high quality no frills airline operating to Sharm and other great destinations. I say high quality as they are definitely a cut above other no frills, better service, allocating seating, extra legroom available, leather seats, in-flight entertainment etc. The great thing is, that on every example I've looked at, they've come up the cheapest option for flying to Sharm El Sheik from Gatwick.

Flights times were good as well. 10:15 from Gatwick so I didn't have to get up too early, which is perfect if you're planning a relaxing break.

Allowing for the 2 hours time difference, we arrived at Sharm airport at about 5:30 in the evening. Sharm airport is a very entertaining place, especially if 5 planes arrive at the same time.

I was staying at the Corinthia Tiran Hotel which had only been open 3-4 months. I got the feeling it Corinthia had acquired the hotel and refurbished it, not that it mattered, as if they did, they had done a fantastic job. The Corinthia Tiran is a 4* hotel, simple but stylish with an abundance of space. The photo's here don't do it justice really.

Great things about Corinthia Tiran Hotel:

* Brand new rooms and decor
* All rooms fully air conditioned and lots of space
* Large swimming main swimming pool
* Separate smaller pools
* Pool side bar
* 2 other bars
* Amazingly friendly staff

And it has to be said...fantastic food.

Not quite so good:
* No gym (yet)
* Beach is a short shuttle bus journey away
* No internet access

It's an all inclusive hotel so all the meals and drinks were included and it meant we didn't have to go out anywhere.

My 4 days were based at the hotel except for 1 evening where we went into the mountains for a traditional bedouin feast. (Tip: take a jumper with you!!!)

I was amazed how quickly it gets dark in Egypt. I don't just mean early in the evening, its amazing how quickly you can go from bright sunshine to darkness.

The weather was fantastic. It was rumored to be 34 degrees the day we arrived. How true this is I don't know as there was a strong breeze so it was difficult to say. It definitely wasn't cold but you could easily sit in the sun and not realise how hot it was.

Would I recommend it? YES. Definitely. For a short break you doing nothing you couldn't have asked for much more. It wasn't long enough away to get bored but it was very simple, high quality and enjoyable.

The return was equally as good. I came back with Kiss Flight again. This was Tuesday evening so I had all day in Sharm to relax and unwind.
